The White Hart pub in St. Peter Port has re-opened following an extensive refurbishment and improvement programme carried out by the Liberation Group.
The popular landmark pub closed at the end of February for a £160,000 makeover which has resulted in a number of improvements.
Regulars of the White Hart will recognise many of the familiar features including regular coverage of sporting events, but one of the biggest changes has been the installation of opening picture windows facing onto the iconic St. Peter Port marina.
Inside a new bar has been constructed, new furniture installed and there has been a complete redecoration from top to bottom, including remodelling of the toilets.
One of the biggest changes has been to the food served in the bar with new menus and more choice for daytime diners. Manager Simon Allum said: "We have had some excellent feedback from our regulars since re-opening and there has been a definite increase in the number of business people popping in for lunch. We expect as the summer approaches that we will also see more tourists coming in - especially now we have a fantastic view out onto the harbour."
The vast majority of the work carried out during the refurbishment was handled by local tradesmen and forms part of a rolling programme of investment in Liberation Group's Guernsey Pubs Bars and restaurants. Operations Director Kenrick Brooks said: "We have already completed the refurbishment of Dix Neuf, and the Red Onion and we are currently working on The Houmet Tavern. The White Hart is one of our most popular pubs in Guernsey and we are glad we have been able to carry out these improvements successfully, on time, and with the minimum of disruption for our customers."
