St.Helier Waterfront Aquisition for Liberation Group

31 March 2010

The Liberation Group, has rescued ‘the Bar’ from closure on Jersey’s Waterfront.

The Channel Islands leading pub and drinks business, The Liberation Group, has rescued ‘the Bar’ from closure on Jersey’s Waterfront. The purchase of the café and bar from Luminar will add a great new outlet to its growing portfolio of properties in the Channel Islands. ‘The Bar’ is one of three sites to be exited by Luminar and all staff are being invited to apply for jobs with the Liberation Group.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Liberation Group, Mark Crowther, said: “We are delighted to acquire this flagship site and expand on to the Waterfront community for the first time. The new burst of activity on the Waterfront and at Castle Quay is adding fresh interest to this part of St Helier and we look forward to catering for a new and growing audience. We appreciate the past few weeks have been an unsettling time for staff employed by Luminar and we will be doing all we can to help secure jobs for them both at our newly acquired ‘the Bar’ along with our other Liberation Group sites.”

The Liberation Group will take over running ‘the Bar’ from Luminar on Tuesday, April 6th, whilst getting the necessary approvals in place over the coming weeks.

The purchase of ‘the Bar’ is the Liberation Group’s second acquisition of 2010 after the Rozel Inn and represents the company’s growing strength and commitment to the Channel Islands. In addition to the purchase of new businesses the company is also reinvesting in its portfolio of pubs with the newly refurbished Post Horn in St Helier re-opening for business last week
