A community pub in Guernsey has been renovated without regulars having to miss out on their daily tipple. Builders have worked around customers at the Harbour Lights in St Peter Port for the past three months whilst the pub has undergone a £60,000 facelift. It has meant the pub has stayed open throughout without having to close for a single day. To celebrate the revamped pub and thank patrons for their patience the pub is offering its regulars a free pint on Monday, March 23rd from 10am to 7pm.

Kenrick Brooks, Operations Director of the Liberation Group says: "The Harbour Lights is one of our more traditional pubs which has built up a strong and loyal customer base over many years. Funding for this project represents the Liberation Group's ongoing investment and commitment in the Channel Islands, at a time when many other local companies are cutting costs."

The pub has been repainted inside and out, had new lighting and carpets fitted, a totally redecorated bar area and completely refurbished men's and women's toilets. Work started in the New Year and the pub's manager Kevin Williams has worked closely with the builders to ensure there was no disruption or health and safety issues.

Mr Williams says: "It's been many years since anything was last done to the pub and the building was beginning to look a bit tired and unloved. We are grateful to the Liberation Group for investing in the future of the Harbour Lights. The intention was never to change the appeal of the pub but cater for our loyal customers in brighter more modern surroundings. We are very grateful to our regulars who put up with the work - I never realised painting could be a spectator sport!"

The pub has retained its popular pool table and dart board and will continue to show horse racing on a daily basis. The only change customers may notice is the addition of the new continental beer Tubourg at the bar.
