Beer lovers are in for a treat with the release this weekend of a Limited Edition ale produced by Liberation Brewery to celebrate their 140th birthday.
Only 2011 bottles have been produced of "Liberation 140" for the occasion. The brewery, originally based in Ann Street and now located at Longueville, started producing fine ales in 1871 and is now responsible for award winning beers such as the Liberation Ale and the renowned Mary Ann range.
Liberation 140 has been brewed using the finest quality British malts including Maris Otter, Centennial, Amarillo and Motueka hops provide the aroma which is robust, fruity and rich. At 7% it is a strong dark IPA which drinks easily but is not easily forgotten.
The limited production run will ensure that Liberation 140, in its special presentation bottle and case, will become a collectors' item for beer connoisseurs. Paul Hurley, Head Brewer at Liberation Brewery says: "We take a lot of care in our production process, making sure we only use the finest raw ingredients. For Liberation 140 we needed to make sure we produced something of the highest quality that will be appreciated by beer drinkers but also that we created an ale that in itself would reflect the rich heritage of our brewery. The result is a beer that is delicious to drink and one to savour".
Mark Crowther, Chief Executive of Liberation Group, says: "Our 140th Anniversary is a very special event and we are planning appropriate celebrations to mark the occasion. This beer is a real symbol of everything we stand for and our pride in the history of brewing in the Channel Islands."
Liberation 140 is available at Victor Hugo Wines in Jersey and Bucktrouts in Guernsey from Saturday 1st October.
