Island charity Holidays for Heroes Jersey will once again benefit from the sale of the award-winning Liberation Ale in Jersey over the Liberation weekend.
Ten pence from every pint of the premium cask ale sold in pubs on 8 and 9 May will be donated to the charity, which provides holidays for injured service personnel. It is the second year running the Group has supported the charity in this way - last year was so successful that beer stocks in both Bailiwicks were drunk dry.
Chief Executive Officer of the Liberation Group Mark Crowther said: “We are very proud to continue working with this incredibly worthy and well-respected charity, enabling them to provide even more holidays for visitors this year. It is remarkable to hear how these stays have helped some servicemen and their families with their recovery and general well being. We hope as many Islanders as possible will raise a glass to the courage and determination of all our armed forces on this special anniversary weekend in support of the good work they do.
” Visiting heroes will also get the chance to enjoy Liberation Ale at their leisure as complimentary bottles will be provided in all of their hotel rooms from April to October.
Dawn Woodhouse, who founded the charity with her husband Richard said: “All service personnel enjoy a pint of good ale which is why this support is so well received. It’s great for us to build close relationships with companies that offer ongoing support, not only in the form of donations but through raising the profile and telling people what we do. We are looking forward to continue working with the Liberation Group in a number of ways this summer.”
Holidays for Heroes Jersey has already accepted more bookings for this season than the whole of last year and some peak weeks are already fully booked. The charity spends the donations it receives on paying for the travel and hotel accommodation of the visiting service personnel spouses, carers and in some cases their young families.
Last year 5,400 pints of Liberation Ale was sold in Jersey and 936 pints were served in Guernsey for Liberation Weekend. All the Liberation Group’s managed pubs that stock cask ale will take part in the promotion including the Cock and Bottle, Five Oaks, Post Horn, St Mary’s, The Wellington and “the” Bar.
