The Royal British Legion is again benefitting from the sale of the Channel Islands award-winning Liberation Ale in Guernsey.

The Royal British Legion is again benefitting from the sale of the Channel Islands award-winning Liberation Ale in Guernsey.

The Liberation Group will donate10p to the charity for every pint of its premium real ale brand sold in selected local pubs on 8th and 9th May. The participating pubs are the White Hart, The Albion, Thomas de la Rue and Deerhound.

The Royal British Legion safeguards the welfare, interests and memory of those who have served, or are serving in the Armed Forces. Local Royal British Legion coordinator, Barry Cash, says: "The additional funding from the Liberation Group is very welcome and will provide a boost to the charity’s funds."

He continues: "The Royal British Legion is much more than just the annual Poppy Appeal, and we need to fundraise all year round, so we can continue to support both former and current serving Personnel. By donating 10p for every pint of Liberation Ale sold, the Liberation Group is helping the Legion in a refreshing way."

The Chief Executive Officer of the Liberation Group, which owns Bucktrout & Co, and 22 pubs in Guernsey and two in Alderney - Mark Crowther says: "The Liberation Group is delighted to once again support the Royal British Legion. Members of the Armed Forces deserve our full support at every moment. What better way to show that, than by raising a pint of the Channel Islands’ own ale in their honour."

He adds: "As a Channel Islands company, we are tremendously proud of the Bailiwick’s heritage. We hope that as everyone celebrates the 65th Anniversary of such an important occasion in the islands’ history, Liberation Ale will be used to toast the memory of fallen heroes and benefit today’s troops who continue to be injured while serving their country."

The beer is a 4% ABV cask-conditioned real ale which is very clean and easy to drink. The recipe includes finest Maris Otter Ale malt with crystal and lager malt, and English Golding Hops have been used to give the characteristic bitterness, whilst Styrian Golding and Hallertau Continental hops provide the citric hop aroma.

When Liberation Ale was launched in Guernsey on 8 May 2009 it sold out by the 10th with islanders downing 936 pints over three days.
