Liberation Day was celebrated in style across many of the Liberation Group pubs and bars last Thursday (9th May), marking 73 years since the end of the German Occupation in Jersey and Guernsey.

Liberation Day was celebrated in style across many of the Liberation Group pubs and bars last Thursday (9th May), marking 73 years since the end of the German Occupation in Jersey and Guernsey.

The Ship & Crown (previously known as the Crown Hotel) sitting in the heart of St Peters Port went to town with their celebrations. Under its former name it acted as the harbour office for the German authorities during the German Occupation and featured in the novel ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society’ - so it only seemed appropriate that as part of their week-long participation in Guernsey's Heritage Festival Potato Peel Pie was firmly on the menu, alongside Liberation Brewery’s Occupation Ale brewed especially for the occasion.
