Halkett Raises Hats for Headway

Staff and customers at the Halkett pub in Jersey will be donning hats next week to raise awareness of local charity Headway.

The "Hats4Headway" initiative is aimed at educating Islanders about the work of the charity as part of Brain Injury Awareness Week.

Liberation Group is a supporter of the charity and has organised a special event at the Halkett to enable its customers to show their appreciation for Headway's work in the local community.

The event is being launched by Mr St. Helier Tom Hacquoil, who ran the London Marathon for Headway this year and will be wearing a Hat 4 Headway with members of the Halkett team.

There will be a best hat competition and an opportunity to find out more about the charity, or donate throughout the day. The party at the Halkett will be the culmination of a day long series of events and activities aimed at getting the Headway message across.

Headway CEO Ray Cooper said: "This is our tenth anniversary year of the day centre and our membership continues to increase. Our team works very hard to deliver our services and provide support. Raising awareness in this fun and visual way will undoubtedly help the public understand the support and help we can offer the community."

The aim is to raise awareness of Headway's work - and if we can do that while enjoying ourselves at the same time it will have been a success. I would urge people to get a hat and come and join in the fun."

Anyone who wears a hat for Headway at the Halkett on 27th May can have their photo taken in the Jersey Party Booth and stands a chance to win a bottle of champagne if their hat is judged to be the best, we will be judging hats on creativity and originality!
