A milestone has been passed by Liberation Brewery with the export of the 100,000th pint of locally brewed ale, this has been achieved in less than nine months.
The brewery, which is owned by Liberation Group, won orders to export its range of award-winning ales to UK pub chains last year, following a successful visit to the Great British Beer Festival, organized by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) at Earl's Court, London in August.
The largest order came from JD Wetherspoon who sold Liberation Ale through its extensive network of pubs and bars across the country. Local beer was also shipped to Fullers and Mitchells & Butlers and this week the total volume exported exceeded 100,000 pints – enough to stretch end to end across the length of Jersey and back again.
Liberation Group Chief Executive Mark Crowther said: "We were obviously really pleased when we won the initial export orders for our Ales last year – that was an important landmark in our history. Now that we have passed the 100,000 pint milestone it's testimony to the quality of our product which is being served alongside some of the best beers, in one of the largest pub chains in the country. It is also great news for promoting the Channel Islands as our image includes the four flags of Sark, Alderney, Guernsey & Jersey and we are very much exporting a pint of Channel Islands in a glass!"
Liberation Ale recently won a Gold Medal at the International Brewing Awards where it was competing against leading beers from around the world. In two weeks time the brewery team will find out if they have won the overall award in its class at a gala night at London's Guildhall.
