Bath Rugby has signed a new two year deal with Liberation Group as shirt sponsor for Jerseyman Matt Banahan.
As the 2015/2016 Aviva Premiership Rugby season gets underway Liberation Group is delighted to announce the new deal, which ensures the Jerseyman’s roots are celebrated every time he plays for Bath with references to Liberation Group at their home ground, on the club website and in the matchday programme.
Matt joined Bath Rugby in 2006 from the London Irish Academy, and first pulled on an England shirt for the 2007-08 IRB Sevens World Series. Since then he has made a number of full team appearances for the national side, earning 16 full caps.
The former Les Quennevais School pupil is also an Honorary Ambassador for Holidays 4 Heroes Jersey, the local charity that provides free holidays in the Island for current and past members of the Armed Forces who have been injured during their service. Holidays 4 Heroes Jersey is the chosen charity of Liberation Group benefiting from all of its fundraising and community events.
Mark Crowther, CEO of Liberation Group said: “We are proud to sponsor Matt with Bath Rugby. He is a great ambassador for the Island and for rugby generally. He is also very generous with his time in supporting our partner charity, Holidays for Heroes Jersey, and for initiatives such as the annual Beach Rugby tournament that raises money for local causes.”
Bath had a terrific season last year, ending with a series of six straight premiership wins and only narrowly missing out on the title. Banahan played in 18 of the matches and scored seven tries in the campaign. He is a regular visitor to his home Island and gives a great deal of his spare time to local causes when he is here.
On Saturday Bath got their season off to a great start with a hard fought victory over Exeter Chiefs at the Recreation Ground.
