Gaudins Patisserie is proud to announce an exciting partnership with award-winning chef Shaun Rankin.
The Michelin starred chef, who gained international appeal through the BBC Two programme ‘Great British Menu’, will be launching his own range with the local patisserie, starting with his famous treacle tart.
Gaudins has been specially selected by the chef to produce the delicious dessert. The Gaudins brand is synonymous with high quality and exacting standards and the treacle tart is the perfect addition to the existing range. Islanders will get a chance to sample the tart when it goes on sale in September at various retail outlets across Jersey and Guernsey.
The tart incorporates the best of Channel Island and British ingredients giving it an unbeatable, rich flavour. As many elements as possible have been sourced from local suppliers, including bread from CI Bakery.
The tart will go on sale at all leading food retail stores and will be available freshly baked. In addition, it will be available through the hospitality sector and individual retailers. The ‘managed pubs’ in the Liberation Group will be the first to serve the tart to customers by mid September. The pubs will be serving up the delicious dessert as a ‘special’ with Channel Island clotted cream and a raspberry coulis.
Gaudins Patisserie, which is part of the Cimandis Group, want local people to be the first to sample the tart. If it sells well in the Channel Islands they will then look at offering UK retailers the chance to order from the Shaun Rankin range.Shaun Rankin, Head Chef, said:
‘My partnership with Gaudins Patisserie marks a very exciting time for me. Appearing
on ‘Great British Menu’ has enabled me to take my career in a new direction and I’m very pleased to be introducing my range with the tart that reached the grand banquet in the competition. I’m launching locally first, in partnership with a traditional and long standing patisserie, as the treacle tart is all about the Channel Islands and I am proud to be an ambassador of the great ingredients these islands have to offer.’
Martina McGibney, Head of Retail Sales and Marketing, Cimandis, said:
‘We’re very proud to be able to offer this incredible product on a wider scale, giving everyone the chance to enjoy it. We’ve already received interest for it on a national level, which is a great accolade for Shaun, Gaudins and the Channel Islands. The high quality of the product reflects the ethos of the Gaudin’s range and our partnership with Shaun Rankin marks a new era for the Patisserie. We look forward to a successful and dynamic year with many new and exciting products on the horizon.’
Mark Crowther, Chief Executive Officer, Liberation Group, said: ‘Supporting the local economy by sourcing fresh local produce for the menus in our pubs across the Channel Islands is integral to the business and community ethos of the group. We are delighted to be able to serve Shaun Rankin’s award-winning and traditional British dessert combined with the dairy products that make the islands famous.’ |
