| Jersey Beer Joins Worldwide Brews at UK Festival - Tuesday, July 14th 2009 |
Jersey’s finest beers will be served up alongside hundreds from across the globe when the Great British Beer Festival opens in London next month. The five-day event from August 4th-8th, will bring together the leading names in brewing, showcasing over 450 real ales, ciders and foreign beers from around the world. It is the first time Jersey Brewery, which is owned by the Liberation Group, will have a bar at the event.
Chief Executive Officer Mark Crowther says: “This is a wonderful opportunity for people outside the Channel Islands to be able to sample and enjoy our quality beers, in particular our successful flagship Liberation Ale. We will be using the event to promote our drinks portfolio to a wide audience of ale connoisseurs and enthusiasts, drinks distributors and pub companies. We hope this could lead to Jersey beers going on sale in pubs and retail outlets outside of the Channel Islands".
The event is Britain’s largest beer festival which annually attracts 60,000 visitors. Jersey Brewery beers have not featured at the Earl’s Court event for more than ten years. Events include beer tastings, talks, traditional pub games, live music and a variety of food stands.
Jersey Brewery will promote its beers alongside some of the UK’s best known pub retailers and brewers like Greene King, Fullers and Marstons as well as small microbreweries.
An eye-catching backdrop of Bonne Nuit Bay will provide the focal point to the Jersey stand which will also include picture postcard views and flags from the other Channel Islands. The stand will also include tourist information, details of the Genuine Jersey Products Association, of which Jersey Brewery is a member, and Jersey-French road signs will add a Gallic touch.
Head Brewer at Jersey Brewery Paul Hurley says: “Our experience at other trade shows has demonstrated that there is huge interest in the Channel Islands and what they offer. Like other leading Jersey products, we feel our beers significantly add to the overall visitor experience and demonstrate the quality and craftsmanship involved in their production. We are really looking forward to being able to introduce people to our beers and talking to them about the history and future of Jersey Brewery."
The Liberation Ale, which is branded with flags of all the Channel Islands, has enjoyed enormous success since its launch in May. Sales of the beer have soared and Jersey and Guernsey have both been drunk dry of the beer on separate occasions.
The festival is organised by CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) and will feature beer from over 280 brewers across the UK.
